These compositions form a collection of my latest musical works which have been submitted to a music competition. These works are already in my discography but have been heavily edited especially for this event.

PROGRAM
My work is highly inspired and influenced by Architecture. Space, light, structure, form, rhythm, texture, gravity and place, all clearly present in the following works. I hope you will enjoy these musical buildings as much as I have in composing them.

Good Cheer - 2021 &
Good Times - 2021
These two compositions were completed in March and May of 2021 respectively, on the occasion of finally seeing the Covid pandemic reasonably subside and looking forward to what this new experience might have in store for us all.
These two compositions are about celebration and joy; the joy of living, the joy of friendships, the joy of being free to go anywhere we choose, the joy of having the opportunity to learn, the joy of being responsible for our actions, our thoughts, our feelings and our words. In other words, the celebration of being alive!

3. The Beatitudes- 2020
This composition is inspired by the great Cicero who invented the word to mean “one’s own blessings”. This was in reference to the blessings bestowed upon oneself by purposely living a life of virtue and service rather than of vice and greed.
This composition is about choosing the difficult path in life, for it is the only way that one can obtain those blessings. With this idea in mind, the movement starts out very simply, it then increases in complexity and in character as it reaches a playful climax of rhythms and accents.

4. The Furies - 2020
This composition is dedicated to the Furies whose role in ancient Greco-Roman mythology was to punish all those who had committed outrageous crimes. Typically the punishments were doled out as misfortune, misery, death, pain, disease, agony, and others.
The spirit of this musical movement resides in a thematic structure of four notes that quickly rise in pitch as they slow in speed. There are also musical paragraphs that transition back and forth from a slow to fast tempo in order to emphasize the seriousness of the crimes and the heaviness of the punishments. The rapidity and the strength of certain sections of the piece are intended to express the swiftness and the permanence of their divine justice. The high notes signify the voices of the Furies.

5. The Muses - 2020
This composition is dedicated to the Muses whose roles, in ancient Greco-Roman mythology, was to provide inspiration on creative, scientific and artistic endevours.
The spirit of this movement emerges as a very simple melodic theme which is rendered into a spectrum of sounds, harmonies and rhythms, where each moment reflects the influence of each of the nine Muses upon our creative instincts and thoughts. The energy that I have tried to express in this piece is one of imagination, wonder and tenacity.
