As a child, I had been told by those who were present, that I was extremely curious, searching for things everywhere and tenaciously asking questions about everything. Of course that would annoy people to no end and I would be sent off at a trot. The sole exception was my Grandfather who used to say: " Listen in silence, Look to silence and Feel with silence".
I did not understand what he was talking about, I thought he was just brushing me off like all the others, however, many years later when I was becoming an Architect I realized exactly what he meant. In Architecture, as in Music and all creative Arts, ideas reside and arise from Silence and they find their meaning in the Light.
Listening to Silence sharpens your sense of beauty and truth. Our present addiction to noise, hype and exaggeration is making us deaf, mute, blind and resentful. Listen to Silence instead, that is where it all begins!
